The port will be developed in phases, with an initial capacity of 15 million TEUs, expanding to 23.2 million TEUs upon completion of the second phase. Its location along the western coast ensures excellent connectivity to northern and central India via the national railway network and NH8.

Investment and Infrastructure: A special purpose vehicle (SPV) between JNPA and MMB will invest Rs. 37,000 crore in basic infrastructure, with an additional Rs. 38,000 crore from private operators. Vadhavan Port Project Ltd. has commissioned 26 surveys to assess the environmental impact. Despite initial opposition from local communities concerned about displacement and ecological damage, the project has received necessary clearances.
