Benefits of Ahmedabad Metro Smart Card
Believe It or not, Smart Cards save you money. You might wonder how, as you have to pay Rs 50 as a deposit, that doesn't happen for the token system. However, according to the Ahmedabad Metro fare system, you get 10% off on your fare as you complete your journey if you pay with a Smart Card.
Using a Smart Card saves you a lot of time. Nobody has the time to stand in line for a Token whenever they need to ride the Metro. At Ahmedabad Metro, you can pay your fare using your Smart Card and get on the train as it arrives. There's no need to stand in long queues to purchase a Token.
Token Vending Counters close five minutes before the departure of the last scheduled train, which often makes it difficult to catch the Metro If there's a long queue for Token. But if you pay Ahmedabad Metro fare using your Smart Card, you can just tap it on the entry gate and quickly catch your train.
Smart cards are limited to only those who bought and recharged the Smart Card. It can be used by friends, family, or relatives as well. You can help your family or friends if they don't have time to buy a token by lending them your Smart Card.
You can change your mind about which station you want to get off at, even on the Metro, as the Ahmedabad Metro fare will be deducted at exit gates.
Refund of Smart Card Stored Value
The smart card's stored value will not be reimbursed in cash.
As per GMRC's business regulations, the stored value of an unreadable smart card will be refunded in the form of a replacement card.
After subtracting administrative fees, only the security deposit will be reimbursed to passengers who want to return their readable smart card stored value.
