Equinix, a Nasdaq-listed global digital infrastructure giant, has acquired the land housing its operational 6MW data center (MB2) in Mumbai’s Chandivali for ₹155 crore. This move is part of Equinix’s strategy to expand its footprint in India, with plans to invest further in data center development across metro cities.

Strategic Buyout: ₹155-Crore Acquisition in Chandivali

Equinix India has acquired a 1.4-acre land parcel housing its MB2 data center in Chandivali from Overseas Packing Industries and Warden Hyforce. The deal, valued at over ₹110 crore per acre, solidifies Equinix's commitment to owning strategic assets in India's booming digital infrastructure sector.

State-of-the-Art Data Center

The MB2 data center spans 58,000 sq ft with over 1,500 cabinets, offering a 6MW capacity. Equinix developed the center on the acquired land, paying ₹10.56 crore in stamp duty to finalize the transaction, as per CRE Matrix data.

Expansion Plans in India

Currently, Equinix operates two data centers in Mumbai, MB1 and MB2. With two additional centers set to launch soon, the company is also in discussions to acquire more land in metro cities for further greenfield projects. Investments over the next 2-3 years will build on the company’s already announced India expansion initiatives.
