In Mira Bhayandar, Mumbai 24 ancient wells, some over a century old and others buried by builders, are set for revival with a ₹50 crore budget. This initiative aims to address the increasing water scarcity faced by the growing population.

Sustainable Solutions for Water Scarcity

Facing a surge in population and consequent water shortage, the local municipality has turned its attention to these old water sources. The restoration involves cleaning, excavating, and refurbishing the wells, followed by installing solar-powered ultraviolet filtration plants to make the water potable.

Preserving Natural Resources Amid Urbanization

With the region's rapid urban development, many wells were either filled in for construction projects or neglected. This project not only revives these wells but also ensures sustainable water management, providing relief during water cuts and preserving natural water sources.

Comprehensive Restoration and Modernization

The plan includes excavating the wells, cleaning them, restoring the natural water flow, sealing off contamination points, and enhancing the structure with new linings and decorative grills for safety. Advanced solar-powered UV filtration systems will be installed to ensure the availability of clean water for daily use.
