The Nargis Dutt Nagar slum in Bandra will be redeveloped under Maharashtra's SRA, replacing shacks with three- and four-bedroom sea-facing flats, transforming the 2-acre Bandra Reclamation land into a modern residential hub.

A recent study highlights a gradual reduction in slum-covered land in Mumbai’s peninsular region, dropping by 8.6% over 17 years. From 47.7 sq km in 2005, the slum area declined to 43.6 sq km in 2022, revealing a dynamic transformation in one of India’s most densely populated cities.

At Kamla Raman Nagar in Mumbai's Dharavi slum, counting houses and people began on Monday to determine who receives a free house. Big plans are in the works for Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd (DRPPL), directed by S VR Srinivas.
