A Milestone in High-Speed Rail: DRA-DMRC Joint Venture Wins Thane Depot Project

Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon, in a collaborative venture with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, has emerged as the front-runner for constructing the Thane Depot, a key component of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project. Recognized as the lowest bidder, the joint venture is set to undertake a comprehensive range of tasks.

These include the design, civil and building works, inspection sheds, and the installation, testing, and commissioning of the depot, along with other associated activities in Maharashtra.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) put forth this project under Package D-1, outlining an ambitious construction timeline of 5.5 years for the Thane Depot. This facility is pivotal for the maintenance and stabling of Shinkansen train-sets.

Positioned near Bharodi and Anjur villages in Maharashtra, the Thane Depot is set to become the project's second-largest train depot after the Sabarmati Depot being constructed near Ahmedabad. Initially, the depot will include four inspection lines, which will eventually expand to eight, and 10 stabling lines, planned to increase to 31.

Additionally, the depot will feature an inspection bay and a washing plant.
