Embassy REIT Pledges INR 300 crore towards green initiatives
Embassy office parks REIT has dedicated over Rs 300 crores to its ESG program throughout its pan-India portfolio of 43.6 million square feet.
Embassy REIT commissioned the first phase of its 20 MW solar rooftop project during its signature 'ESG Occupier Connect' meeting, which was attended by over 200 important occupiers and strategic partners.
This project, one of Asia’s biggest, intends to create 30 million units of solar electricity, offsetting about 25,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Embassy REIT wants to use 75% renewable energy by 2025 as part of its 2040 net zero carbon operating objective. In addition to the present 100 MW solar plant, the REIT intends to more than quadruple its current 120 MW onsite and offshore renewable energy capacity by developing additional solar plants around Bengaluru and NCR.
This renewable energy capacity expansion will be funded by capital contributions in excess of the Rs 300 crores that Embassy REIT has previously committed to its current ESG activities.
Embassy REIT wants to reach 75% renewable energy use by 2025 as part of its 2040 net zero carbon operating objective.
