Mumbai:

If you didn’t get a home in the recent MHADA lottery, don’t be discouraged. The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is preparing to bring more opportunities for applicants. Between March and June 2025, the Mumbai Board is set to release a new lottery offering 3,000 homes. Out of these, 2,500 homes will likely come from the Patrawala Chawl project in Goregaon. So, if you missed out on this time’s allotment, there’s no need to lose hope.

Special Committee to Reduce Home Prices

MHADA’s CEO, Sanjeev Jaiswal, shared that the board has received several requests from citizens to reduce housing prices. In response, a committee has been formed to explore how these prices can be brought down. Based on their recommendations, further price reductions may be on the way. The 2030 homes lottery that concluded recently saw 113,000 applicants, demonstrating the continued high demand for MHADA homes. The online lottery fulfilled the dreams of 2030 families who had been waiting for years for an affordable home.

A Decade-Long Dream Finally Comes True

One such applicant, had been applying for a house since 2014. After 10 years of waiting and several failed attempts, he finally secured his home through this year’s lottery. Even though he had been trying his luck in the reserved category for MHADA employees, this time, Nishant decided to apply in the general category as well, and that’s where he found success. The moment he heard his name announced on the microphone, he knew his dream was now a reality.

9 Years of Patience Rewarded

A resident of Pratiksha Nagar, had also been applying for the lottery for the past nine years. With 12 applications in this cycle, she felt optimistic, and her patience finally paid off. Her dream home is now hers after nearly a decade of hope.

A Single Application Leads to Success

While many applicants applied for multiple homes, there were some who got lucky with just one application. One such success story is of an applicant from Chunabhatti, who applied for a home in Vikroli Kannamwar Nagar. He filled out just one form, and today, his dream has come true.
