Google has paid USD1 billion for colorful office space in London while it waits for the construction of its long-delayed U.K. headquarters to be completed.

The internet behemoth revealed recently that it has purchased the whole Central St. Giles building in London's West End, where it already has a number of floors.

"Our investment in this spectacular Renzo Piano-designed facility reflects our sustained belief in the workplace as a space for in-person collaboration and connection," Ronan Harris, vice president and managing director of Google U.K. and Ireland, said in a blog post.
