The MMRDA has created a master plan for a safe, dependable, and pleasant rail-based mass transport system in Mumbai.
Under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), the government of Maharashtra, with the assistance of the World Bank and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), compiled the Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in 2008, also known as the Transportation Study for the Region of Mumbai (TRANSFORM).
The primary purpose of the research was to assess the travel modes and travel patterns of MMR inhabitants and to provide a comprehensive long-term transportation plan for the MMR until 2031.
One of the most important TRANSFORM proposals was the creation of a Multi Modal Corridor in MMR to accommodate the diverse transport needs of the area until 2031.The MMRD had developed a master plan for the city that never sleeps in order to provide a secure, pleasant, and dependable rail-based mass transport system to the residents of Mumbai and to complement the city's suburban rail system. MMRDA is part of the Maharashtra government and is responsible for the regional planning and infrastructure development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The MMRDA was established on January 26, 1975 under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Act, 1974, with the Maharashtra government as the main authority for planning and coordinating regional development operations. The MMRDA is comprised of seventeen members and is led by the Maharashtra Minister of Urban Development.
Since its inception, the MMRDA has been responsible for long-term planning, the promotion of new growth centres, the execution of major projects, and the funding of infrastructure development. The Regional Plan offers a framework for the sustainable expansion of the MMR. The purpose of founding MMRDA was to make MMR an economic hub by boosting infrastructural development and enhancing the quality of life. The MMRDA develops strategies, formulates policies and programmes, executes projects, and contributes to the direction of regional investments.
In the last two decades, the MMRDA has been instrumental in enhancing Mumbai and its surrounding regions. The process is perpetual, and the agency continues to serve the public by carrying out vital tasks. The creation of a second lifeline for the residents of Mumbai is one of the landmark undertakings. A number of the metro projects are approaching completion and will soon be operating. Residents of Mumbai will soon be able to ride in rakes with air conditioning and reduced journey times, giving them more time to spend with their families.
In real estate terms what it means is that many property developers in Mumbai will be creating new real estate projects in the locations that have been connected via the new plans. It also means that there will be a lot more upcoming locations in Mumbai that will see tremendous real estate activity in the coming years. All in all this augurs well for the Mumbai property business.
MMRDA has projects like as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, BKC Connector, Sewri Worli Connector, and SCLR Extension, among others, that are equally vital to Mumbaikars' travel comfort and time savings. The further ease of travel in Mumbai will surely have a positive effect on the home prices, demand for residential and commercial real estate in Mumbai.
