Massive Infrastructure Boost for Mumbai Region as MMRDA Approves INR 12,546 Crore Projects to Improve Roads and Bridges

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is poised for transformative growth with the approval of nine major infrastructure projects. Spearheaded by the MMRDA, these initiatives, totaling over ₹12,546 crore, will enhance 56 kilometers of roads, bridges, and pedestrian pathways, creating seamless connectivity across the region.

This upgrade is a crucial step toward addressing the city's ever-growing vehicle numbers and improving mobility.

For the Mumbai real estate market, this means better accessibility, reduced travel times, and increased property values in key areas. As connectivity improves, so does the desirability of residential and commercial spaces, making these projects a game-changer for investors and homeowners alike.

Key Projects and Scope Road and Bridge Network Expansion

The approved projects include critical developments in Mumbai and Thane, such as sea-link roads, creek bridges, and pedestrian bridges near metro stations.

Total Length: 56.197 kilometers of roads will be constructed across the region.

Budget: ₹12,546.14 crore will be invested in these projects.

MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee emphasized that the focus is on creating a future-ready road network to meet the growing demands of the region. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed confidence that these projects would not only improve traffic but also provide a much-needed boost to the local economy.

1. National Highway-4 Elevated Road (Katai Naka) Length: 8.24 km Contractor: J. Kumar Infraprojects Ltd Project Cost: ₹1,847.72 crore

2. Gaimukh to Payegaon Creek Bridge Length: 6.509 km Contractor: Ashoka Buildcon Ltd Project Cost: ₹975.58 crore

3. Kolshet-Kalher Creek Bridge Length: 1.64 km Contractor: Ashoka Buildcon Ltd Project Cost: ₹288.18 crore

4. Kalyan-Murbad Road Elevated Road Length: 2.16 km Contractor: Ashoka Buildcon Ltd Project Cost: ₹451.10 crore

5. Pedestrian Bridge Near Metro Line Location: Teen Haath Naka Length: 603 meters Contractors: KBA Infrastructure & Shri Mangalam Buildcon Project Cost: ₹68.08 crore

Boost to Economy and Connectivity

These infrastructure developments are set to significantly reduce traffic congestion and make travel smoother across the MMR. Additionally, the projects are expected to play a vital role in driving economic growth in the region, as improved connectivity will benefit various industries and daily commuters alike.
