Since an interval of more than four years, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is prepared to sell over 4,000 affordable apartments in Mumbai via lottery.

The announcement is anticipated to be made anytime in January 2023, and the lottery is anticipated to take place in February 2023.

It is anticipated that more than fifty percent of these dwellings will be for the economically disadvantaged (EWS).

A top MHADA official who did not want to be identified said,

"Apartments would be offered by lottery for all income categories: low-income, middle-income, and high-income."

More than fifty percent of these will fall under the category of EWS. The LIG, MIG, and HIG apartment sizes will vary from 300 to 600 square feet and be dispersed around Mumbai.

He continued,

"The apartments will range in size from over 300 square feet to over 600 square feet. The cost has not yet been determined; however, it is currently under negotiation and should be finalised in the next days. The EWS flats will be located, among other places, in the Goregaon neighbourhood of Mumbai, and the apartments for the other categories will be dispersed across south, central, and suburban Mumbai."

Schools, universities, and hospitals will also be in close proximity to the residences, which will have excellent connections to public transit.

The lottery for these affordable apartments by MHADA will be done entirely online and will be declared in the coming days.
