L&T's "Mission 96" was accomplished by the use of precast technology, which is hailed as the future of building.
Larsen & Toubro has announced the successful completion of 'Mission 96,' a plan to construct a 12-story residential tower for their client, CIDCO (City and Industrial Development Corporation), with 96 flats in 96 days using the company's precast large concrete panel system for ultra-rapid construction of public housing. In Navi Mumbai in Bamandongri, Kharkopar, and Taloja, CIDCO is constructing around 23,432 EWS and LIG homes under Package IV of the PMAY.
L&T's "Mission 96" was accomplished with the use of precast technology, which is hailed as the future of residential tower building for automated quick construction with improved quality based on factory-controlled manufacture. Mission 96 included the fabrication and installation of 1,985 precast pieces of the superstructure, as well as architectural finishes and MEP work across a constructed area of 64,000 square feet.
Ashwin Mudgal IAS, joint MD of CIDCO, said, "It's fantastic to witness L&T's record-setting procedure, which will pave the path for the future usage of such technology and great shop floor management."
Architect Hafeez Contractor remarked, "L&T, which pioneered aluminium formwork building in the nation and transformed the residential sector, has been essential in advancing precast technology to achieve material sustainability and rapid construction. The company's concentration on prefabricated pre-finished volumetric building would allow it to address the rising demand for houses in India."
MV Satish, full-time director and senior executive vice president (buildings), L&T, commented, "At Buildings & Factories, we've always looked for methods to expedite construction, and this project is yet another successful attempt to significantly decrease construction cycle time." He discussed the development of an unique unit, B&F Fast, which focuses on developing methodologies and deploying technology to build to speed and scale, and which recently built a 7-story, state-of-the-art flight control system integration centre for DRDO in 45 days. "In addition to building technology, digital technology also assisted us in achieving this speedy rate of development. We employed the concrete maturity technique to monitor the growth of concrete strength in real time using digital metres for seamless construction, and we tracked progress using the digital twin approach with the project-specific BIM model."
