MMRDA Mulling Versova-Virar Sea Link Extension to Palghar

In some great news for Mumbaikars, the MMRDA could possibly connect the Versova-Virar Sea Link all the way to Palghar.

Any new infrastructure development that boosts connectivity, reduces traffic and aids travel is always good news for Mumbai residents as well as the Mumbai real estate market.

Apparently, in preparation for the expansion of the Versova-Virar Sea Link to Palghar, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is currently in search of Detailed Project Report (DPR) consultants.

By providing an expedient route from South Mumbai to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, which accommodates a high volume of traffic, the proposed 43-kilometer sea link intends to alleviate congestion.

The extension is anticipated to stimulate economic and tourism-related endeavours in addition to enhancing coastal connectivity.

Furthermore, in order to ascertain the suitability of the alignment, MMRDA intends to conduct a peer review that will consider environmental concerns, recovery and rehabilitation efforts, and the optimisation of the project's functionality by implementing industry standards.
