In a move that marks a significant milestone for urban transport in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently initiated the Gurugram Metro Rail project in Rewari. With an investment of Rs 5,450 crore, this project is a cornerstone in the government's ambition to furnish the populace with an advanced, environmentally friendly mass transit solution.
Project Overview and Financial Blueprint
The Gurugram Metro Rail project, boasting an expenditure of approximately Rs 5,450 crore, is set to revolutionize the urban landscape of Gurugram. This 28.5-kilometre metro corridor will seamlessly connect Millennium City Centre with Udyog Vihar Phase-5, enhancing the connectivity within the city. Additionally, an essential link at Dwarka Expressway is in the pipeline to further streamline the urban transport network.
Connecting Gurugram: A Closer Look at the Stations
This ambitious metro line will feature 27 strategically located stations, including HUDA City Centre, Cyber Park, and Cyber City, among others. These stations are designed to bridge the gap between New Gurugram and the older parts of the city, lacking adequate metro service. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC), a collaborative effort between the central and Haryana governments, is charged with the project's execution.
Project Timeline and Expected Outcomes
With a projected completion timeline of four years, the Gurugram Metro Rail project is slated to be operational by 2027. This initiative is not just about enhancing urban mobility but also about catalyzing economic growth in the region. It promises to improve connectivity to major hubs such as the Indian Railway Station and IGI airport, thereby fostering regional development.
Beyond Transportation: A Vision for Regional Development
The Gurugram Metro Rail project is part of a larger vision that includes the inauguration of various projects aimed at developing the region's railway and health infrastructure. These efforts underscore the government's commitment to holistic progress, emphasizing the transformative impact of the Gurugram Metro on the city's economic and social fabric.
