What is The Meaning & Significance of Greenfield Smart Cities?

Most often, the term "smart city" refers to a recently built city that is equipped with cutting-edge technology to keep up with its rapid growth. Since it is difficult to introduce these technologies into established cities, many modern "smart cities" are being developed from the ground up.

A smart city is an example of a greenfield project, whereas retrofitting an existing city with cutting-edge technology to make it smart is an example of a brownfield project.

Sustainable development objectives may be met via the integration of eco-friendly features and contemporary infrastructure in greenfield smart towns. Yet, building such cities is no easy feat, and there are several obstacles to overcome, including the need for a massive infrastructure buildout and the difficulty of locating suitable land.

These projects are often undertaken by private corporations, however sometimes public agencies may provide the necessary land or other resources for development.

The Gujarat International Financial Tech City (GIFT), located on the Sabarmati river's banks, is widely regarded as a promising new greenfield smart city in India.

The smart city is said to be an International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) where banks, financial service organisations, etc. establish their worldwide operations, and it is already fully functioning with more than 200 entities.
