Interestingly, contractors and developers do not consider the function of technology based only on return on investment. Rather, they are focused on long-term sustainability, which is an encouraging indicator.

Multiple reasons drive the use of technology in the real estate industry. The client's needs are rising, changing, and developing. They demand increasingly modularized and bespoke designs, which necessitates recalibrating current technologies. 

Other reasons such as enhanced technological bandwidth, decreased hardware and software costs, and the availability of better personnel are also influencing the use of technology in the construction industry.

Once indifferent to the adoption of technology and innovation, an industry is now rapidly updating to the newest versions of software tools, CRM, ERP solutions, project management software, automated HR packages, workflow management tools, etc.

In the past, IT took a back place in the construction industry. Nonetheless, it is moving to the centre and becoming a crucial productivity driver. However, developers today comprehend the importance of IT and technology and how it enforces individual and project-level productivity, streamlines operational cycles, and improves system-wide efficiency.

BIM tools may be combined with VR devices, hence expanding their use. With the use of a VR tool, one may digitally view a building project in stages and make better judgments as a result.

Drones are rapidly used in construction management for a variety of tasks, including site inspections, construction monitoring, topographical mapping, and land surveys, among others. It provides a less expensive alternative to aerial mapping.

Similarly, it may be used to monitor the progress of big building sites and guarantee that the work is proceeding according to plan. They may also be used for site security monitoring.

In order to take measurements, workers are sometimes required to visit dangerous situations and areas. With drones, such arduous and dangerous activities can be performed in a streamlined and risk-free way, making them very popular in the construction industry.

With the emergence of 5 G internet, the Internet of Things will become more prominent in the future. As in other realms of life and business, future technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) are expected to alter the building industry. IoT will link devices, machines, sensors, and individual human resources via a server and simplify the exchange of data, inputs, and insights in a unified manner.

This will be useful for monitoring equipment and gadgets in real time, tracking downtimes, producing more accurate estimations, managing resources, etc. Similarly, IoT may be used as a wearable to alert workers of any possible hazards on the job site. This may be quite beneficial for enforcing site safety.

IoT devices may also aid in the remote tracking of the crew and provide real-time data to management on the construction process.
