Long-term Environmental Strategy

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has made the decision to adopt a long-term environmental strategy. The strategy, according to authorities, will be ready by June of 2022.

This strategy focuses on meeting the demands of the metropolitan population until 2041. The proposal will be worked on by an agency that will be appointed soon.

"The sustainable environment plan will focus on interventions that must be undertaken on a micro level throughout the entire metropolitan region to bring all components of the environment, such as greenery, pollution reduction, and water conservation, together," said Sudhir Rajpal, GMDA's chief executive officer. It will be a comprehensive plan for the entire city that is citizen-centered and based on feedback from local citizens."

Sustainable Management For The Urban Environment

The plan for"sustainable management for the urban environment" would include "provision for urban forestry, tree plantation, and horticulture," as well as "measures for solid waste management and water conservation," according to the GMDA Act 2017.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB), and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (GMDA) collaborated on a district-level environmental management plan for Gurugram in December 2019.According to authorities, this plan does not include specifics for an urban population and is a district-wide strategy.
