These are never-done-before type agreements of their sort between RailTel and a private developer to construct such a network.
The Wadhwa Group and RailTel Corporation of India (RCIL) have entered into an agreement whereby RCIL will invest to plan, design, and construct a state-of-the-art wired infrastructure capable of delivering high-speed Broadband, linear cable TV services, and other value-added services (VAS) at Wadhwa Wise City, a smart city project developed by The Wadhwa Group in Panvel.
It is also the first deal of its sort between RailTel and a private developer to create infrastructure of this kind. RCIL will construct the whole end-to-end infrastructure and have exclusive rights to lay the wired and wireless infrastructure inside the smart township for a term of ten years. Other service providers will get access to supply their services, including security services, Voice (over IP) and linear &/or non-linear) cable TV/DTH and IPTV services, as well as VAS. The access network in the Wadhwa Wise City Premises would consist of 48/96 core underground optical fibre cable. Last-mile and access network equipment would be maintained and managed by an RCIL-approved vendor or MSP/access network partner. In addition, RCIL will increase capacity and design a robust network to accommodate RailWire traffic according to business forecasts. It will also install RailWire pops to enable residents of Wadhwa Smart City with network connection.
The Wadhwa Group's Managing Director, Navin Makhija, said, "Wadhwa Wise City Panvel was created with the buyer's complete health and lifestyle demands in mind. This area is anticipated to be the next economic growth corridor due to its proximity to many infrastructural initiatives and the government's commitment to developing Panvel. Therefore, our agreement with RailTel will guarantee that the citizens of Wadhwa Wise City have access to world-class internet and value-added services through this infrastructure."
Taruna Singh, chief executive officer of RailTel, said, "Railtel has just released unlimited bandwidth plans with 13 OTT services for RailWire subscribers. Railways, defence, mining, health, education, and other industries get our services. This is our first arrangement to create this kind of infrastructure in a huge township like Wadhwa Wise City, and we will carry it out effectively."
The project, which is scheduled to be completed in numerous stages over a period of five to seven years, will include IT parks, Father Agnel School, healthcare facilities, a clubhouse, retail and shopping, etc.
In recent years, the NAINA area has been the epicentre of high-quality home developments due to its relatively cheaper pricing, excellent road and rail connections, and expanding infrastructure.
