This online service will help those possessing pattas to apply for surveying and pinpointing the boundaries of their land. How to check the status of TN Patta Chitta online?

You can verify your Patta Chitta online easily through the following steps-

Step 1 - Visit the Tamil Nadu Patta Land Record Official Portal

Step 2 - Select the option Check Patta/Chitta details

Step 3 - Enter your Reference number (The reference number is generated at the time of application submission) and click on submit button

How to verify the authenticity of Patta Chitta?

One can verify the authenticity of the Patta Chitta by cross-checking the survey number, land owner's name, and other details mentioned in the document with the Revenue Department's records. The Patta Chitta can also be verified online through the Revenue Department's website by entering the survey number or land owner's name.

Can Patta Chitta be transferred to another person?

Yes, Patta Chitta can be transferred to another person by submitting an application to the concerned Revenue Department along with the necessary documents. The new owner's name will be updated in the document, and a new Patta Chitta will be issued.

How to transfer Patta Chitta?

In the event of the death of a landowner without a legal will, the heirs get the Patta Chitta transferred in their name.

Where is Patta Chitta used?

For land registration in Tamil Nadu

The seller needs to provide Patta details to proceed with the land registration. It is easy to prove the possession and physical occupation in the case of structures or buildings but in the case of vacant land, it may not be possible to do so.

Patta Chitta proves the legal ownership of a landowner on the said land in Tamil Nadu. It became the third State after Kerala and Andhra Pradesh to make Patta a proof of landholding. A property or land can be registered in Tamil Nadu by submitting the Patta Chitta of the land.
